Double Indemnity Scene 6

This scene from Double Indemnity is a big influene to my film. It gave me an insight into the interior of my film and also the dialouge which creates tension between the two characters and how they interact with each other. In addition to this 6.20 minutes in a dissolve edit that takes us into another scene where the character Walter Neff speaks through a Dictaphone as a voice over narration, which links to the films diegesis as the whole film is a flashback narrated by Walter Neff. Filming

I started shooting my film, when putting it on the editing suite i realised the lighting was way to dark as i only used house lighting when a night. I will now go back again and film during the day so there is more natural light. In addition to this i didnt follow some of the rules when filming. For exmaple the 180 degree axis rule, also some of the shots i had hoped to film hadnt looked as good as i had hoped, having to rethink my initial ideas.

Mise en Scene Analysis of Influence

This scene from the film Psycho, 1960, Alfred Hitchcock, has influenced the third scene in my film. Within this scene Marion Crane, gets dressed underneath her white blouse she wears black underwear which connotates her double personality. Her outward appearance reflects purity and innocence to the everyday people around her, but underneath the black underwear acts as a symbol of her inner corruption exemplified by her impulsive behaviour having sex at lunch time when she should be at work and later when she steals the money on an impulse. In addition to this the man whom she is sleeping with appears muscular and seductive, this could mean that Marion Crane is quite a shallow person and picks her men by the way they look.

Filming

On Monday 24th of January i will begin filming. I have had some problems leading up to now as my main actor was unable to film and finish of my storyboard i have replaced him with another actor and hopefully my film will go to plan and my storyboard shall be finished by the end of next week.

FADE IN

EXT: MIDTOWN NEW YORK- NIGHT

City street very busy shows cars driving in a rush. Bright lights. Zooms into a rusty window.

SCENE 2

DISSOLVE IN

INT: STAIRWELL

VIRGINA walks up a long set of spiral stairs and heads towards a

door. She wears a black fur coat, white lace dress and black heels, smoking on a ciggarette.

Dutch Tilt Angle

She walks through another door and leans against the door frame.

a TILT shot reveals Virginia through a long mirror

VIRGINIA

He knows

FRANK

Medium shot of Frank, he's wearing a black suit jacket and white shirt.

I had some idea with the late night call, what are we going to do baby? Does he know your here?, How do you know he hasnt followed you?

VIRGINIA

Jesus Frank calm down, he's gone away for the night dealing with some buisness, so no he does not know i'm here.

Pause Virginia walks over to the table where Frank is sat and takes a seat opposite him. She lights up another ciggarette.

VIRGINIA

Over the shoulder shot

 I've been thinking........

Virginia pushes an envolope towards Frank, shown through a close up.

Theres a over the shoulder shot of Frank.  He opens the envolope, a extreme close up reveals to the audience that it is Virginia's husbands insurance plan.

FRANK

Is this going to hurt...........(long pause)....someone?

VIRGINIA

Virgina walks around the table and bends down to Franks ear. This is shown through a tilt shot connotating her domination and muniplitive schemes.

But the reward will be worth it

Virginia sais this seductively

INT BEDROOM

The dissolve takes us to a flashback narrated by the voice of Frank Lawrence

      FRANK

  

 'she was beautiful, she was dangerous, she enticed me into her spiders web of desire and lust. I have never felt guilty over our actions, and still dont. I gave her attention and satisfied her needs, unlike her filthy rich husband. I would give and do anything for her to be mine'

A medium shot reflected through a mirror shows Virginia laid on the bed smoking a ciggarette, the camera pans right to reveal Frank fastening up his shirt.

He finishes getting dressed kisses her on the forhead and leaves.
